It was, overall, an excellent season for the City 6 and its basketball teams. The six teams’ combined win total exceeded last year’s by 18, and every single team, except for Villanova, had at least 19 wins. In addition, Drexel and Temple won their conferences’ regular-season titles, but none of the teams were able to get their conferences’ automatic bids.
The teams also featured many star players, a lot of whom got recognized by their conferences for their excellent play:
Penn: Zack Rosen (Ivy League POY)
Temple: Ramone Moore (1st-team All-Atlantic 10), Khalif Wyatt (2nd-team All-Atlantic 10), Juan Fernandez (3rd-team All-Atlantic 10, All-Academic team)
Villanova: Maalik Wayns (Big East’s 4th-ranked scorer and 2nd team All-Big East)
Saint Joseph’s: Langston Galloway (second-team All-Atlantic 10), Carl Jones and Halil Kanacevic (All-Atlantic 10 Honorable Mention), C.J. Aiken (Atlantic 10 Defensive POY), Ronald Roberts Jr. (Atlantic 10 Sixth Man of the Year)
