Jason Richardson is reportedly out for the season and will undergo left knee surgery. Richardson had his knee drained on January 17th and decided to play the next day in a loss to the Toronto Raptors. This clearly was not the right decision, due to the fact that he received news on February 5th that his knee will require surgery that will take 6-9 months to recover from.
Richardson, in his 11th season could be seeing his career come to an end. Richardson has not completed a season since the 2007-08 season. He is 32 years old and is undergoing reconstructive knee surgery. This can only mean that the end is near for J-Rich.
Without Richardson:
He averaged 10.5 points per game in his 33 games with the Sixers. Richardson is a perimeter threat, but he has been shooting a low percentage lately. Richardson has done a little bit of everything, but at a below-average level. This injury should not be too devastating for the Sixers and it should not effect their plans to make it to the playoffs.
