Briere to Return Tonight

Daniel Briere is making the return (by “the”, I mean the one that I mentioned in my last article) tonight against the New York Islanders. It is his first game back since Jan. 21 against the New Jersey Devils.

Briere's return should provide a much-needed boost.

With Briere making his return, the Flyers lineup could get the spark it most desperately needed. Danny reported that he has not felt any concussion symptoms for the past couple of day,s and says he is ready to lace up the skates and get back into the lineup. Briere has 13 goals and 17 assists this season, in only 43 games. Danny Briere and the Flyers are hoping to improve their home record this season as they are .500 at home, a paltry number. The last time the Islanders visited South Philly, they ended up leaving victoriously with a 4-1 win over the Flyers, and embarrassing defeat.

In other injury news, James Van Riemsdyk has finally spoken to the media about his concussion. He says that he is inching closer and closer to return and is feeling more upbeat compared to the last few weeks. Rumors stating that the Toronto Maple Leafs would attempt to trade Luke Schenn (Flyers Forward Brayden Schenn’s Brother) for JVR have dispersed. Flyers fans who adore the forward are very lucky and happy because this concussion most likely prevented him from being traded and kept him with the orange and black.
