Nash Out of Columbus?

Ben Euler – Khandyman’s Flyers beat reporter.

Trade rumors are spinning out of control with teams possibly interested in the Columbus Right Winger. Yes, the Flyers are one of the teams to possibly be in the mix for Columbus captain Rick Nash. The Flyers and Blue Jackets have shown a recent past in exchanging players. Most recent was the Jeff Carter trade for Jakub Voracek, a 1st round pick in which the Flyers selected Sean Couturier and 3rd round pick in which they selected Nick Cousins.

The former 1st overall pick would be a huge boost for Philly, who are a "Nash" away from stardom.

Last season the Flyers had also received Tom Sestito in exchange for two minor league prospects (Michael Chaput & Greg Moore). The tough part is, Rick Nash a no-trade clause on him. So, ff the Blue Jackets are willing to trade the Winger, he must approve and finalize the deal to make it official. From what has been said, Rick enjoys the city of Columbus and the team. However, will he exchange that for a chance to be in Cup contention?

In general, the Orange and Black desperately need a Goalie and/or Defenseman to truly make a run for the prestigious Stanley Cup. If they attempt to make a run at Nash, they would have to propose some key components to the team at the moment. After all, two things would need to go right for this trade to go down. First, the Blue Jackets must be pleased with the proposal, and then Rick Nash will have to approve the trade. It makes more sense taking a look at the team now that they have to pursue a Goalie like Evgeni Nabokov (New York Islanders) or an animal of a defenseman like Hal Gill (Montreal Canadiens).
