Flyers in the Final Stretch

With 12 games remaining for the Flyers this season, they remain 6 points out of first place in the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference. They currently sit in 3rd place in the Division behind the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers. In the next 12 games the Flyers will face the Penguins 3 times and the Rangers once. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, the Eastern Conference 1-3 seeds must have one representative from each of the divisions, even though the Atlantic Division has the top 3 teams in terms of points.

The rest of the games this season for the Flyers are crucial for who they face in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Here are two likely situations for the Flyers to finish the season:

1) Flyers manage to stay in 5th place/move up to 4th place in the conference and go on to face the 4th/5th seed Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round.

2) Flyers end up in 1st place in the Conference and end up facing whoever the 8th seed may be.

Since Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov is getting hot at the right time , situation 2 seems very possible if the Orange and Black keep up their play. The keys for the Flyers going deep into the playoffs and winning the Stanley Cup trophy are staying healthy throughout the rest of the season and staying hot as they go in.
