DeSean Jackson Placed on IR, To Miss Rest of Season

The Philadelphia Eagles (3-8) have had an abysmal season and it is only getting worse. Sources have confirmed that the rib injury Desean Jackson suffered in their Monday Night Football game is a season-ending injury. He has cracked his ribs and has been placed on the Injured Reserve list which means he is unable to return for the 2012 season.

What does this mean for the Birds?

The Eagles are going to have to go into Sunday without Michael Vick, LeSean McCoy, and Desean Jackson. At the same time, they are trying to end their 7-game losing streak which may very well continue after going against the Dallas Cowboys in a tough NFC East game. At this point the Eagles do not have a chance at the playoffs but they can attempt to make the Cowboys path to the playoffs more difficult by coming out with a win. If Philadelphia does not win 2 of its next 5 games, they will have the worst win percentage in Andy Reid’s tenure with team. Avoiding that historical mark has just been made even more difficult with the season-ending injury of Desean Jackson.
