76ers Look for Revenge Against Bulls: Preview and Prediction

This Wednesday, the Sixers (11-9) take on a hot Chicago Bulls team (11-8) coming off a 3 game win streak and an impressive 93-85 win over the red-hot New York Knicks.  The Sixers, coming off and embarrassing loss to the Boston Celtics, are looking for some redemption.  Last week, both teams met in Chicago and went back and forth.  In the end, the Bulls prevailed winning 93-88.  Luol Deng was the key that night, leading all scorers with 25. If the Sixers are going to prevail, they are going to have to shut him down.  Evan Turner is starting to prove why he was the 2nd overall pick.  In the past 5 games, Turner is averaging 19 in the last 5 games and is not alone: Jrue Holiday is also averaging 15 points and 8 assists in the last 5 games.

Starting 5 Match-ups

Boston Philadelphia
PG Marco Belinelli Jrue Holiday
SG Kirk Hinrich Jason Richardson
SF Luol Deng Evan Turner
PF Carlos Boozer Thaddeus Young
C Joakim Noah Lavoy Allen

Keys to the Game

Thaddeus Young

Thad’s been a force in the paint.

As of late, this gut has been an animal, scoring wise, and rebounding wise. He has been averaging 15 ppg and 7 rpg.  Although he has help on the offensive end, the Sixers tall game isn’t very deep.  Sure, you always have big Spencer Hawes, but the loss of a player like Andrew Bynum can really hurt a team size wise.  You know that Thad will give 110% every game, so look for him to have a big game Wednesday night.

Luol Deng

Let’s face it, without Derrick Rose, the Bulls are pretty much just trying to make the playoffs. But they are surpassing everyone’s expectations right now with the help of Luol Deng.  Deng is averaging 18 ppg and 7 rpg.  With the help of Joakim Noah, who you can always depend on, the Bulls look to be a sleeper team this year.

Wrapup and Prediction:

As of now, the Sixers are 11-9 without Andrew Bynum.  Can’t you just imagine what this team would be like with the native New Jerseyman?  If he can make a speedy recovery, Philadelphia could potentially be a nasty team this year.  Same with the Bulls.  Derrick Rose is going to be out for a while, but if he returns, I would absolutely call them a threat for a title run.  This game is going to be played at the Wells Fargo Center, and the Sixers are looking to show America why they deserve league-wide recognition.

I predict a 92-86 final score in favor of the Philadelphia 76ers.
