MLB Free Agency: Angels Sign Hamilton, Phillies Must Look Elsewhere

The Los Angeles Angels have come out of nowhere and snatched up prized free agent outfielder Josh Hamilton, with Hamilton signing a five-year, $125 million earlier today according to several reports.

The Phillies had offered Hamilton a three-year, $80 million offer that no one expected to be enough, but five years is a lot for a 31-year old outfielder.

This obviously leaves the Phillies in search of another outfielder. Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher are two names that have been thrown around a lot, although the Phillies haven’t made any recent progress acquiring either.
