Nick Foles Breaks Hand, Will Miss Sunday’s Game vs Giants

In his day-after press conference, Andy Reid had a little something extra to add on to his usual “This was my fault, I have to put my team in a better position” spiel. It was the fact that Nick Foles suffered a hairline fracture on his right hand in Sunday’s loss to the Washington Redskins and will miss Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.

Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer tweeted out the news:

Eagles Insider reported Reid’s decision on who the likely starter will be:

The consequences of this are obviously two-fold. Nick Foles, next year’s likely starter, won’t get his final chance to play against an NFL defense before next season. While it shouldn’t “hurt” his development, Eagles fans have seen mixed results from the rookie and the game against New York would’ve been another good measuring stick to see his year-long progress. In seven games, Foles completed 60.8% of his passes for only 1699 yards, 6 touchdowns, and five interceptions. In that time he accrued a 79.1 passer rating.

Michael Vick, on the other hand, will in fact get another chance to play in an Eagles uniform, something that seemed extremely unlikely just 24 hours ago. Even though his performance won’t save his job, it will be a nice farewell for a quarterback who gave Eagles fans a season of thrills.
