Philadelphia 76ers Bring Back Guard Maalik Wayns on 10-Day Contract

The Philadelphia 76ers decided to sign rookie guard Maalik Wayns to a 10-day deal just one day after waiving him. The rookie point guard out of Villanova cleared waivers and thus was eligible to be re-signed.

With Wayns on the roster, the Sixers currently have 13 of the 15 roster spots filled, but only 12 may play. When they waived Wayns they chose to call up young forward Arnett Moultrie. This was an attempt to add to their interior defense, which is somewhere severely lacking. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for both Moultie and Wayns.

Wayns can only be signed to two 10-day deals, which allow the team not to guarantee full-year salary, before a decision must be made, so in 15 days or so, the Sixers will have to make a final decision on whether to keep Wayns or send him to the D-League.
