Philadelphia Union Loan Carlos Valdes to Santa Fe

In January 2011, Colombian defender Carlos Valdes was loaned from Santa Fe to the Philadelphia Union. The next month, the Union were able to secure all rights to him. Now, it has been reported that he is being sent back to the Colombian league to once again play with Independiente Santa Fe.

Valdes had a successful career in the MLS. In 2012 he was named an All-Star and played in the MLS vs Chelsea game (All-Star Game). Valdes also won 5 cups during his time with the Union, including 3 open cups and 2 league cups. He also played on the Colombian national team, and with the World Cup ahead, he is looking forward to once again representing his country. This is also part of the reason he has decided to go back to Santa Fe.

In 65 games, Valdes scored 3 goals and had 46 shots on goal. He helped them rack up nearly 20 shut-outs in that time.
