Eagles Coaching Rumors: Lurie Will Not Interview Colts OC Bruce Arians

While he has been connected to the Philadelphia Eagles head coaching vacancy over the past week or two, Bruce Arians will reportedly not interview with the team as previously reported. The “report” from before had indicated that the Eagles would meet this Tuesday, but Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer has reported that the interview is no longer set to take place.

While this may seem to indicate that the Eagles are close to ending their search and hiring someone like Mike McCoy, Gus Bradley, Ken Whisenhunt or Brian Billick, all of whom they have interviewed, Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly has reported that it may not be the case:

While the Eagles seem very interested in Billick and Bradley, nothing is close to set in stone.

Regardless, this news is frustrating on the merit that Arians is a qualified candidate. Although he is 60 years old, his 9-3 record as interim head coach suggests he can do good things in that role. He’s also one of the best QB developers in the past 15 years, having developed Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, and Andrew Luck early in their respective careers. The Eagles could use someone like that to groom Nick Foles, who will be entering his second season in the NFL.
