Pittsburgh 3, Philadelphia 1: Flyers Fall in Season Opener

In what was an electrifying atmosphere down at the Wells Fargo Center, the Philadelphia Flyers (0-1-0) got down 2-0 early and could never recover. Despite Claude Giroux scoring his first goal as captain in the second period, the Flyers could not overcome the deficit and fell 3-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins (1-0-0).

The Penguins got goals from Tyler Kennedy (PP), James Neal, and Chris Kunitz (EN). Scott Hartnell and Brayden Schenn picked up assists on Giroux’s goal.
