Flyers 3 Stars: Voracek, Simmonds Tally Goals In Loss To Rangers

It was a disappointing finish to a close hockey game as the New York Rangers beat the Flyers 4-2. With all of the goals coming off clear defensive breakdowns, you wonder how much longer GM Paul Holmgrem can wait on making a move for a defenseman (See the article “Why Trading Danny Briere Makes Sense“).

3rd Star: Claude Giroux

  • 1 Assist
  • Solid penalty killing
  • 19:41 TOI

2nd Star: Wayne Simmonds

Wayne Simmonds had a goal, an assist, and two hits in tonight’s game. He was dominant on the power-play in the first two periods.

1st Star: Jake Voracek

Voracek tallied a goal, an assists, and two more hits in tonight’s game. He is now t-7th in the league with 27 points on the season. He also was great at carrying the puck through the neutral zone throughout the game, creating chances for his line mates especially on the power-play.
