A Tribute to Khalif Wyatt: Atlantic 10 Player of the Year

Temple’s senior guard Khalif Wyatt was named the Atlantic 10 player of the year. This comes after after yet another stellar season on the offensive end for the Temple Owls. Wyatt lead the Owls with 19.9 ppg and 4.1 apg this season. The Owls finished the regular season with a record of 23-8 (11-5 A10).

SJU could not stop Wyatt.

Khalif showed up in all big games this year and was a major mismatch for whoever was on him. In a Big 5 rivalry game at Hagan Arena vs the Saint Joseph’s Hawks, Wyatt came up big for 34 points in a Temple 1-point loss. In this game no matter who the Hawks put on Khalif he was scoring with ease, just as he did in all league match-ups this season. This performance was just a piece of what Khalif did all year long.

The Senior has been a crucial part of the Temple team for all four years. In A10 play this season Wyatt only had 1 single-digit game and 3 games of over 30 points. This shows that the All-Star talent that Khalif has was there in every single game and every single minute.

Expect great things to come from Wyatt as the Owls head to postseason play. He will need to step up and be not only a scorer for the Owls but a calming Senior presence.

If Wyatt can keep up his dominate play that he has had this season then teams will be tough pressed to beat this Temple team. Khalif is an exciting player who has done great things in his time at Temple, and will be looking to do great things in the NBA. Maybe if we are lucky he won’t even have to leave Philly and can help out our Philadelphia 76ers.

Congratulations to Khalif for another excellent season. Good luck in the tournament!
