Philadelphia Flyers Trade Harry Zolnierczyk To Anaheim Ducks For Jay Rosehill

Shortly before 4:45 this afternoon, news broke that Flyers forward Harry Zolnierczyk was traded to the Anaheim Ducks for forward Jay Rosehill.

Here are Jay Rosehill’s career stats (Yahoo! Sports):

Rosehill’s only NHL games came with the Toronto Maple Leafs

I personally do not understand this trade. Rosehill is a career minor league player that does not have a chance in making the big club. Zolnierczyk on the other hand is a speedy player who can create scoring chances.

Before hearing that the return value was Rosehill, I thought the Flyers might be getting picks in return to help acquire another big-name defenseman, but that’s not the case.

Hopefully, Paul Holmgrem has a bigger plan in mind, and this was just a move to open up an NHL roster spot. We need something to give us fans some hope.
