The Philadelphia Eagles just cannot catch a break with All-Pro left tackle Jason Peters.
Last season, Peters tore his achilles before training camp and missed the entire 2012 season, which helped lead the Eagles to a 4-12 record. Now, according to USA Today, Peters has been arrested in Monroe, Louisiana for drag racing and then fleeing police who tried to apprehend him at speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
First reaction: “Why?” Second: “What an idiot.”
Guys who have been formerly respected as leaders in the locker room (namely LeSean McCoy) have seen their reputations tarnished over the past couple years, but Peters has gone to a whole new level after being arrested two years ago for disturbing the peace.
According to a police report, Peters and a friend came out of a red light at very high speeds, apparently drag racing, before cops apprehended them. Peters’ friend stopped but he fled, and was later arrested and taken to Ouachita Correctional Center.
