Strengths

Bo Horvat who is arguably one of if not the best all around player in this year’s draft class. Horvat is a reliable 2-way polayer who demonstrates great play at both ends of the ice. It is very rare that you find Bo Horvat out of position and is the top face-off man in the 2013 draft. Horvat also has magnificant puck handling skills and a very talented skater. London Knights coach put his star center in every defensive situation and Horvat provailed in all scenarios. If this wasnt enough, Horvat posses a great Hockey IQ and has an accurate, heavy shot. Horvat  is also a very good passer, and leaves EVERYTHING he has on this. Bo Horvat is the top all around player in this draft.

Breakdown

  • YES. He has all the tools to be a great hockey player (Skating, Stick handling, shooting, IQ, hitting and Passing)
  • Brings Leadership
  • Hard worker, leaves everything out on the ice

Weaknesses

While Bo Horvat is above average in all aspects of the offensive game, he isn’t very dynamic in the offensive zone, meaning that he doesnt put up teh best production. Also, even though he finishes checks and plays the body well, he can use a little more edge to his game.

Breakdown

  • Not the best producer in the draft despite outstanding abilities
  • Needs more edge

What are scouts saying?

“He’s not afraid to go to the dirty areas, he’ll block shots and is the definition of a team first guy. Horvat will do whatever it takes to win and has outstanding leadership qualities. He most certainly has potential to take on a leadership role in the NHL down the road” – Todd Cordell of The Hockey Guys

“Horvat is one of the most complete forwards in this draft. He is tough, hard working, and defensively skilled, with enough offensive ability to project as a scoring line player” – Corey Pronman of Hockey prospectus

Should The Flyers Draft Horvat?

It Depends. The Flyers are a team that is in dire need of help in the defensive part of the game. Going in, The Flyers have to have this mindset moving forward. If the Flyers at the 11th spot have a chance to pursue Bo Horvat it will be very difficult to pass up this young man, because he is a complete game player and plays the ice well.
