The Philadelphia 76ers and new General Manager Sam Hinkie have made the next move in their rebuilding plan, acquiring forward Royce White, an international prospect, and cash considerations from the Houston Rockets for a future draft pick.
Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news:
White did not suit up for the Rockets last season after being drafted in the first-round out of Iowa State, spending much of the season in the Developmental League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He averaged 11.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in the D-League.
This move makes sense on two levels: first, White is not likely to play much in the NBA next year, which will help the team go ‘Winless for Wiggins’. Second, White is a young player with a fair amount of potential, and with the right coach, could develop to be a solid rotational player for the team by the time the rebuilding phase is coming to an end.
