Flyers Free Agent Moves: Live Updates And Analysis

The Flyers going into the first day of free agency have many holes to fill this offseason, from anything to a goalie to maybe a strong top 4 defenseman. The Flyers are being affiliated with a lot of rumors heading into the offseason, all related to either acquire a top 4 defenseman, a scoring forward, or a trade to dump salary off the cap. We will have to see and wait to see what General Manager Paul Holmgren has planned for this offseason.

REPORT: Friday at 12:18PM: The Flyers have signed Goaltender Ray Emery to a one year contract worth 1.65 million

Ray Emery with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2009-2010 season.

Analysis: The 30 year old Ray Emery had good success here in Philadelphia in the 2009-2010 season, where he posted a 16-11-1 record and a GAA of 2.64 and a .905 save percentage! Ray Emery is a very solid goaltender who has stayed pretty healthy every since his short stint with Philadelphia, where he was sidelined with a hip injury most of the season. Contract wise, this is a very solid deal for the Flyers, not a long commitment and not a lot of money for a guy that could be the #1 goaltender, battling for it with 25 year old Steve Mason.

REPORT: Friday at 1:15PM: Flyers sign Goaltender Yann Danis to a one year, 2 way contract

Yann Danis with the Edmonton Oilers during the 2011-2012 season.

Analysis: Yann Danis has mainly played the minor league goaltender role for the most part in his career. Danis (32), will increase the goaltender competition with the Phantoms, this will also increase the call up flexibility with goalies and adds depth in case of injury. Danis last year played in the Edmonton organization in the AHL with the Oklahoma City Barons last season. He played 47 games with a 2.59 GAA and a .911 save percentage.

REPORT: Flyers are in talks with the Montreal Canadiens
