Phillies, Utley Agree to Two-Year Extension

Phillie for life? According to Jim Salisbury of CSN and FOX’s Ken Rosenthal, the Philadelphia Phillies and Chase Utley have agreed on a two-year deal worth just under $30 million.

Utley is in the final year of a seven-year contract he signed in 2006, and at the ripe age of 34 with his degenerative knee condition, it’s possible that this is his last contract. He has played all 10 of his pro seasons with the Phillies and has amassed 214 home runs and a career average of .287.
