John Lannan Lands on DL, Season Could Be Over

One of the Phillies left-handed pitchers, John Lannan has found himself on the Disabled List (DL) for the second time this season. On August 14, with the Phils playing the Braves, Lannan had injured his knee in the second inning after loading the bases. This can’t be a good sign for the hurting Phils and also Lannan.

He is now 3-6 with a 5.33 ERA and may not come back this season, or ever in fact. Lannan said after the game, “Every time I push off, there’s a pain there in the knee.”

A likely replacement is Triple-A starter Tyler Cloyd, who is 2-2 with a 3.41 in six starts with the Phillies in 2013. He is 5-9 with a 4.89 ERA at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but recently pitched a gem to help the IronPigs defeat Syracuse.
