Eagles-Buccaneers Week 6: State of The Eagles

The Eagles may have seemed bad. The Eagles may actually be bad, and “the haters” may say the only reason the Eagles are going to get wins is because they’re playing against bad teams. However personally, I really couldn’t care less. With a 31-20 win over the Bucs on Sunday, the Eagles improve to 3-3 on the season, staying in 1st place in the NFC East, and will be tested for it next week as the second place Cowboys will come to the Linc.

Of course, there will be many headlines surrounding the Eagles before they even make it to next Sunday. The biggest being the starting quarterback controversy that still continues to lurk. While it may have seemed a little more obvious last week that Michael Vick was still going to be the listed starter, the question became a little more interesting after Nick Foles threw for 296 yards and 3 touchdowns. When asked about it after the game, Chip Kelly gave his usual indefinite answer when he responded, “We’ll go back and we’ll evaluate everything, see where we are as a team and see where we’re going”.

While the starting quarterback may remain a mystery, the state of the team currently stands strong heading into next week. Will the stability of a starting QB matter for the future of this team? Absolutely. But as we are right now, I think Chip Kelly is doing a good job in being patient as far as evaluating the situation, because at the end of the day, us fans can speculate all we want about who we think should be the starter, but in reality Chip Kelly has the final call on who is under center on Sunday.
