Philadelphia Eagles Free Agency Tracker: Confirmed Signings/Releases

While you may look to other threads for rumors, in this Eagles FA tracker we will only deal with moves confirmed by multiple insiders. Check back for continued updates.

5:03 PM: Eagles Sign Safety Malcolm Jenkins

The Philadelphia Eagles made their splash at safety, signing Malcolm Jenkins to a three-year deal worth $16.25 million. Reports are that he will getting $8.5 million guaranteed.

Jenkins is a versatile player who can play both strong and free safety. He’s not great one-on-one in coverage, but he’s fast over the top and is solid in the run game. He’ll be a fine upgrade over anyone the Eagles could put on the field last season. He had 68 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 interceptions in 2013 for the Saints.

4:40 PM: Eagles Re-Sign Donnie Jones, Release Patrick Chung

Bringing Jones back was a no-brainer.

Forty minutes into the free agency period, the Eagles have made their first key moves, re-signing Donnie Jones to a three-year deal and releasing safety Patrick Chung. Jones had a fantastic season last year punting for the Eagles, and this deal will probably be his last in the NFL as he nears the end of his career. He’s still, however, a very effective punter and will continue to help the Eagles win the field position battle.

Chung, who was supposed to be a fix at one of the safety spots for the Eagles, struggled mightily in coverage and tackling last season. While some believed he might stay as a backup, the Eagles obviously feel the $2.5 million they save (according to is worth releasing him.
