Report: Flyers GM Ron Hextall Has Placed Vinny Lecavalier on Trade Block

With the Stanley Cup almost over and the NHL offseason almost ready to begin, many Flyers are wondering in what direction the team will be going after a tough first-round exit at the hands of the Rangers.

TSN’s Darren Dreger dropped this bombshell on his TSN Insiders segment tonight: “The word on the street is that, yes, Vincent Lecavalier most definitely is in play.”

After signing a five-year deal with the Flyers this past offseason, Lecavalier scored 20 goals but found himself demoted to the 4th line at points. He looked like he was trying to force things offensively, finishing with his lowest points-per-game ratio since the 2001-2002 season.

Lecavalier has a $4.5 million cap hit for each of the next four seasons and a full no-trade clause, which could make getting value in return or even trading him in the first place a tough task.

Dreger did add, however, that General Manager Ron Hextall and Lecavalier’s agent are in contact about a possible trade but that Lecavalier has yet to make a list of teams to which he is okay with being traded to.
