UPDATE: REPORT CONFIRMED BY JIMMY KEMPSKI
Jimmy Kempski, formerly of Philly.com and now of PhillyVoice, confirmed Braddock’s report:
According to Jayson Braddock of KBME 790 in Houston and the Houston Texans post-game show, the Philadelphia Eagles will be signing sought-after free agent cornerback Byron Maxwell when deals can be made official on Tuesday.
Braddock then went on to add that the deal is five years in length, with the total money ending up around $53.5 million. He also says that the one sticking point in negotiations was increasing the guaranteed money from $23.5 million to $25 million.
Maxwell, who formed Seattle’s formidable ‘Legion of Boom’ along with Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, and Earl Thomas, had 6 interceptions and 24 passes defended over his last two seasons with the Seahawks. He expressed interest earlier this week in joining Philadelphia.
